2. Description of Service
BitChat is a decentralized communication application that enables peer-to-peer messaging using Bluetooth mesh networking technology. The App operates without centralized servers or internet connectivity, allowing users to communicate directly with nearby devices.
3. Privacy and Data Security
BitChat is designed with privacy as a core principle:
- No user accounts or registration required
- Ephemeral encryption keys generated on each app launch
- No persistent storage of user identities or message history
- End-to-end encryption for all communications
- No collection of personal information or usage data
4. User Responsibilities
As a user of BitChat, you agree to:
- Use the App only for lawful purposes
- Respect the rights and privacy of other users
- Not use the App to transmit harmful, threatening, or harassing content
- Not attempt to reverse engineer or modify the App beyond its intended use
- Comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws

BitChat is open-source software released under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with the MIT License terms. The BitChat name and logo are trademarks of the BitChat community.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
- WARRANTIES RELATING TO THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY CONTENT
- WARRANTIES THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BITCHAT, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR ANY OTHER PARTY INVOLVED IN THE CREATION, PRODUCTION, OR DELIVERY OF THE APP, BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
8. Experimental Software Notice
BitChat is experimental software that has not undergone comprehensive security audits. While designed with security best practices in mind, it should not be relied upon for sensitive communications until proper security reviews are completed. Users are advised to exercise caution and understand the inherent risks of using experimental cryptographic software.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and will be effective immediately. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
